We had no alternative.
Perhaps we preferred staying away.
No ‘party’, meant no voice.
But we have to change all that. We’re knocking over the system.
And we need you. #AreyouIn?
Our goal is to forge strategies that bring solutions to the social problems we are facing. Clear the way forward for solutions. We seek representation in parliament and every aspect of our socio-economic life…with the Independents having the same rights as parties.
We demand a more just, prosperous society which takes care of the many and not the few. After all, economic growth must not be measured by those who possess the wealth, but the ability and opportunity for all citizens to prosper.
We demand the healthy growth of a green economy. We strongly consider it the most valuable heritage for our children, grandchildren and the future generations.
We demand transparency in public tenders, with the state offering terms that respect the tax payer and the public interest, looking to benefit the state and not private interest.
We demand access to the hydrocarbon deals signed as well as those to be finalised and will affect the future of our country’s economy.
We demand a quality system, fully utilising the professionals knowledge, skills and abilities to the maximum, so they can provide the next generations, with strength of mind, academic training and the critical thinking needed to lead healthy, productive, creative lives.
We demand the drawing up and implementation of a collective strategy to adapt pensions and other social allowances upwards, bring them in line with the changing economic and demographic conditions, with the goal being to allow pensioners and other vulnerable groups, to enjoy at least a dignified standard of living.
We demand a framework to protect journalists from financial or other influences, free to report the news with objectivity and integrity.
We demand that the salary is equated to the level and quality of work, a simple and fair logic that is not reflected in the Cyprus market today. Women, the younger professionals and those who had fewer opportunities in education are the most vulnerable to exploitation, low pay, insecurity and job uncertainty. We demand that the state protects them.
We demand a solution to the long standing housing problems and a lasting settlement of the rent price divergences, including taxation and contributions, so housing can become more financially accessible and profiteering is eradicated. This is the foundation on which we build our families, the threshold for our dreams and future. It’s quite clear that the state should be the main source of financially viable housing.
We demand the building of a society and an international community rid of any form of racism, based on the progress of human rights. We support the eradication of discrimination based on race, gender, ethnicity or sexual preference.
We demand the universal implementation of the law and constitution, with the immediate annulment of legislative provisions that have approved over the years and constitute blatant violations of human rights.
We demand the implementation of UN and Security Council relevant resolutions. It is our tenet that the Cyprus problem is first and foremost an issue of invasion and occupation. So we demand the implementation of the acquis communitaire and EU principles for all legal citizens of Cyprus and the doing away of guarantees, intervention rights, with the immediate withdrawal of all foreign troops.
